With growing pressures on young people today in their studies and future careers and achievements, dealing with peer pressures and bullying, skills which develop their self confidence, pride and respect for self, communication and team building are essential.
Living Leadership programs explore and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to understand their own personal characteristics, family, surroundings, struggles, achievements, support systems and beliefs that make them unique and how these traits can help them make a difference in their personal environment, community and the greater world.
Students research past & present leaders including their struggles, strengths & weaknesses, their failures and successes. Students are placed in the same “real life” scenarios that these leaders faced and are supported and encouraged to work through their own decision making process of that situation, keeping in mind the leaders they have studied and their decisions and outcomes. The skills that the students are taught and knowledge gained, develop their communication skills, promote development of self in society, help with decisions in future education and career choices, awareness of social & environmental responsibilities, handling peer pressure and developing leadership skills.
NOTES FOR PRINCIPALS/HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
The opportunities for Living Leadership to be utilised in the realm of Informal/Experiential Education is endless. Sessions can be built as a once off program, a specific theme for a period of time being studied, used to enhance another topic or as a method to teach for a period of time. Depending on your requirements, a Living Leadership Program can be developed as part of your curriculum and taught by the teachers to their students. We train the teachers in how to present and teach the specific program and do regular follow ups to ensure the program is running well and offer further support to teaching staff if required.
Some of the topics that Living Leadership run alongside other school programs to enhance or broaden its impact and delivery are:
Peer pressure versus influence
Management of teams
SPECIAL PROGRAMS FOR STAFF MEMBERS
Living Leadership will develop specific leadership programs for teachers, administration and support staff of your educational institution. We will focus on your requirements to ensure the program meets your needs and expectations. Topics such as working together as a team, communication skills, personal development and achievements through experiential education will help develop stronger bonds, understanding and achievement of goals for staff members. The programs will be based on past and present leaders exploring their decision making processes, strength and weaknesses, failures and achievements and how that impacts on your staff members’ character traits, skills and decision making abilities.
